Peter and Nancy Johnson
Peter Johnson and his wife, Nancy, atop the York Minster cathedral, November 2007.

Just got back from deployment [in Iraq] this year (the third), spent two weeks in Eygpt with my wife Nancy, then Holland to see the tulips (missed them), then onto Vegas for a business trip and then a summer full of visitors (4 of them) and now we're settling in for a dark winter in the UK.

We're planning to go to India (hope we can swing it) and AES is one of the first places I'm going. I know it's different but it will nice to see the place again. India (and AES) are close to my heart. I always consider it the place where I started learning about myself.

Nancy and I are leaving the UK next August and heading back to the states and then retirement 18 months after that then onward...My plan is to become a teacher. Kids have always been my preferred population anyway. I've done alot of volunteer soccer (foote) coaching for all age groups and I was a youth sponsor in the Unity Church for HS students. That's the direction I would like to go but there may be an opportunity out there to be of service in that way that doesn't involve teaching...who knows. Nancy is getting her Master's in International Relations from OU and will probably finish next summer and I know she wants to work internationally so I may be following her around...who knows. I f anybody out there knows how (or where) she can get her foot in the door, please email me.

I am an avid golfer and a round of golf with anyone out there would be great if we're ever in the same area. Cheers.

Peter

Peter Johnson and Nancy
Peter Johnson, AES class of 1978, and his wife, Nancy, visited Rome's ancient Colesium in March.

My wife and I took over 350 pictures of our stay in Rome over 4 days, this was just one. We arrived Thursday morning at Ciampino and took a TerraVision shuttle bus to the Termini. From there we took the subway to Piazza di Spagna to hook up with the tour group (in front of the American Express office - leave the station, turn left as you get to the Piazza, pass the Spanish steps and keep walking until you see it on your left). Nancy and I were the only English speaking people on the tour so it worked out that we had our own guide that took us on a 4 hour tour of ancient Roman sites. ABSOLUTELY FANTSTICALLY BRILLIANT!! That however, was not the PRIMARY reason we went to Rome…

About 1 year ago, Daniela Avitabile (now Sbroscia – I believe that’s right), class of ‘77, and I got back in touch with each other and we had been emailing and recently talking (now that I am stationed in England) ever since. She lives in Rome with her Family (Husband, two children – wonderful family). SHE OFFERED HER HOME TO DURING OUR STAY!! Nancy and I were extremely appreciative and moved since her faith (and mine too) that we would still get along after all this time was validated in that moment. We hooked up at the end of the day (She works of course). Nancy and I really liked being with them, I loved seeing Daniela again after 30 years (people – the woman still looks the same – goes to show you what good living will do for ya) and we got along great. More than that...Nancy and Daniela got along very well…that makes me happy J!! There’s still a lot to share to catch each other up fully but we made a good effort…It was just great seeing her. Her husband is a good man, I liked him and we got on just fine. She has wonderful children. I am a child at heart ( I don’t apologize for that) and her 12 year old is my new video game partner – he kicked my a— though). I’ll leave it to her to illuminate you with personal details…

Daniela said that she would send you something so I will let her do that.
