AIS/AES class of 1976 Reunion Dinner, April 12, 2008, Washington, DC.
Margaret Siebel and her husband Stuart graciously hosted a reunion dinner on April 12 at their home in Washington, D.C. for the AIS/AES class of 1976. Sitting in her backyard, one could almost imagine being in Delhi-outdoors under the trees with Indian food, carpet on the grass underneath our feet and flickering candles casting a warm glow. Some 76-ers traveled great distances to be there: Eryn Creedon came from Oregon, Diane Cowper from Florida and Marshall King from Ohio. Ashok Nimgade flew down from Boston and Irena Choi Stern arrived from New York. Fortunately, quite a few members of the class live within a reasonable radius, including Malcolm and David Garg, Miranda Kreisberg Martin, Jonathan Cool and Tawnya Morden Harvey. Eric Hols got together with a few classmates on Friday night, but couldn't make it to the Saturday shindig. It's probably best to sum it up by quoting a few of the attendees, but without attribution to protect the innocently perverse.
Turbans off to Margaret for her wonderful food & hospitality (complemented by Tanya's nimboopani). It was great to see everyone. Thanks also to Marshall Kingji for an early morning ride to the airport. By stopping at red lights and keeping both hands on the wheel, Marshall kept the DC police at bay. Take note and drop that bloody Indian driving video from your hands, Jon Cool, you of bladder-bursting police car chases. A great night, great food, great people, good conversation, and a wonderful hostess. What more could one want on a Saturday night in N.W. Washington? The food was incredible and talking over old times really fun. I look forward to another get together in the near future. Last Saturday night was a great start to many more 76'ers reunions. I thought I heard Jonathan say that he is going to set up an old Indian army tent in his lawn and allow us to use it for target practice with bottle rockets.
Sincere thanks for a wonderful fun filled evening. It was great to see everyone again and reminisce. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard, hearing the many exploits from our more youthful days. Keeping in the spirit I would like to offer our abode for the next gathering, whenever that might be. I live in Fredericksburg which offers much sight seeing and quaint shopping as well as golf for those so inclined.
