April 24, 2007 Lisa E. Smith, AIS class of 1979 kittenak2004@yahoo.com
After living in Anchorage, Alaska for six years I moved to Gulfport, MS, to be closer to family in 2004. In August 2005, my parents and I survived Hurricane Katrina. We lost a lot but our lives were spared. My sister, Terri, moved to Dallas area with her daughter. My brother, Mike, and his family moved close to Atlanta, and my parents are happily relocated to a town where they grew up. After some wonderful friends rescued me I temporarily relocated to Georgia and 8 months later I headed across country back to Alaska. It was a great trip--I got to see a lot of the U.S. that I had never seen and visit with my brother, Rob, and his wife in Eugene for a week. I took the ferry to Bellingham, WA to Whittier, AK and arrived this past August. I highly recommend that trip to everyone. Now I'm working as an assistant for an attorney in Anchorage, working toward re-newing my EMT license, traveling around Alaska, connecting with old and new friends, and living in total peace. It's good to be home and to have my life back. The photo attached is of my brother, Rob, (who has GRAY hair now) and I taken in Eugene in late July 2006. For anyone who would like to reconnect, please contact me at kittenak2004@yahoo.com. Peace! Lisa E. Smith See also the letter from Lisa's sister, Terri Smith, AES class of 1980.
