Raynah Salenius D'Onofrio AIS class of 1973 Raynah@cox.net May 16, 2008 Hello Fellow AISers! I have not been in contact for a long time so decided to write a little about me and what I have been up to....
Currently, I live in the Scottsdale area of Phoenix, Arizona, United States, having lived in Southern California for most of my adult life. I love living in the Phoenix area, it's a great city, despite the summer dry heat. People are very nice here and the lifestyle quite nice. I work as an Administrative Assistant at Mayo Clinic, the world reknowned medical center based in Rochester, Minnesota. I have the job of taking care of patient care issues, imagined or real! I love my job! Mayo is a great place to work! Some of you will remember my sister, Sharon. She is currently living in the Fort Myers area of Florida. What's funny, is that since we both went to college in the US, neither of us have traveled outside the US since then. I think we got burned out from living overseas (great) and traveled so much around the world (airline flying not great) that we don't care to do it anymore, plus we've seen everything! I know some of you will understand. Both of us have traveled in the US though. Since we were not born here, we never got a chance to really explore this country. She is married, in cancer research and has a sailboat, two cats and a bird. I do miss living overseas...the material things one has in the US is very nice, but I miss the mentality of international people that I grew up. It's just different here. I was married for 17 years, none of which were really great.....we divorced in 2000 and I have been very happy by myself since then. I don't plan to remarry and I live with 8 parrots, three cats and a car. The picture is of me and my Eclectus, Sierra, my darling companion. She is delightful and loves to travel with me in the car to various places and loves to step up on and charm people. My husband and I never had children and he is remarried now and seemingly very happy. He has a very logical type of mind and I, the creative one, is all over the place, never predictable and ever changing. Needless to say, as we both got older, I was the one that kept changing and need more out of life. He was a good husband though and is now married to a lady that has a logical mind like his! I think I'm too "out there" to ever be in a relationship again! And if you think I'm nuts with so many parrots, there are those nuttier than I! Well, there you are....I hope all of you are well, and I would enjoy hearing from anyone that I used to know! Raynah@cox.net Raynah Salenius D'Onofrio |
