Katharine Pearson AIS class of 1973

Dear Ones,

Katharine Pearson eased her body into death about 1:30 a.m. Saturday
morning, May 24, 2008.

She didn't struggle; she simply breathed her last after a long day of deeper and deeper sleep - and a long, year and a half of a particularly aggressive breast cancer.

I'm sure she didn't feel alone: I was there at the West Island Palliative Care Residence in Montreal. She was supported by a brilliant staff, friends and family, voices, touch and music - as well as by the invocation of names, strong memories and common causes.

Katharine's spirit (and spirits) were never confined to one place. So please feel even freer now - as she must - to cherish everything we have in common: sorrow, hope, friends and
