Sad News - Helen Ide (Faculty)
posted 11 March 2017
Dear Friends of Helen Ide,
Helen completed her life on earth shortly before 6 am on
March 5, 2017, as dawn began to lighten the morning sky - always an early riser. In the days before, her seven children came from across the country and around the globe, keeping watch beside her bed around the clock and gathering each evening to sing her on
her way, anointing her with oil, blessings, tears, affection, admiration and gratitude.
Spouses, grandchildren, friends, and caregivers whose loving hands had nurtured
her for weeks, months, even years, completed the circle. We know that many kept watch from afar. Thank you. Be well. Blest be the tie that binds.

Sad News - Andrew Jordan (Class of 1991)
posted 22 December 2016
From Tony Jordan (father):
I received notification earlier this week that my son, Andrew,
died while serving as the Management Officer for the mission
in Juba, South Sudan. For those of you who never met him,
Andy was 6’3” and some, with biceps weightlifters envied. He
had a smile that most would describe as mischievous and eyes to go with it for,
had he not been so tall and well built, you might have mistaken him for ‘Puck.’ His wit and sense of humor might still have convinced you if you closed your eyes and listened.
He had an IQ that was off the scale and an ability to solve problems that amazed others. His logic, though sometimes contorted, was always unassailable.

Tom's Celebration of Life, by Joseph Ridolfo, Class of 1969
posted 8 May 2016
My wife Ardyce and I attended Tom Blake's service on Friday, 6 May 2016.
We met his aunt on his father's side and one could see a family resemblance.
We also met three cousins on his mother's side. That was about all his relations.
Many friends from his church and other groups he belonged to were in attendance. Tom had the same preacher that presided over both his parents' services. Tom's sermon was very well done and celebrated his life in East Tennessee.
The family was so glad someone from AIS was there. They wanted to know about
life in India. We talked about gemstones and other gifts that Tom and his parents brought back from India.
Ardyce and I left our address and an open invitation for Tom's cousins to visit.
