The information packet and registration forms are now available for the 2013 West Coast Reunion. You are encouraged to sign up early to take advantage of the special room rate at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma. Let Cindy (ondrak@Montana.com) or Judy (judithlashley@gmail.com) know if you are thinking about coming to the reunion so they can add your name to the list of those planning to attend.
2013wcr.wordpress.com is a secondary site for the West Coast Reunion information. It is essentially a Reunion blog. There you will find information about volunteering to help with the reunion, coordinating schedules to get back and forth to the airport, changes in the agenda for the reunion, and more items of this nature. If you want to follow reunion information click on the wordpress link above; when the page opens click on the "follow" tab in the lower right corner of any of the pages, enter your email address and you will start receiving updated information about the Reunion.
Tacoma, Washington, has been picked as the site for the 2013 West Coast Reunion. The reunion will be held at The Hotel Murano on July 19-21, 2013. The reunion is open to all alumni, alumni parents, administration and faculty. July is a wonderful time to visit the Pacific Northwest when average daily temperatures are 74-76ēF (23-25ēC). http://weatherspark.com/averages/31750/7/Tacoma-Washington-United-States
The Hotel Murano is offering a special guest rate of $129 per night for us and will extend that rate for 3 days before the reunion until 3 days after the reunion. Close to the hotel are many attractions such as: the Museum of Glass or the LeMay Car Museum. Find more to do on the Tacoma Visitors Bureau website, www.traveltacoma.com.
Watch here for more information and details, as we get closer to July. If you have questions about the reunion or would like to help with it please contact Cindy Jones Ondrak (ondrak@montana.com) or Judy Newberry Ashley (judithlashley@gmail.com). See you in July!

This site is an offshoot of the Facebook Group, "American International School New Delhi." www.facebook.com/groups/202872899750675/
There was interest expressed in creating a separate website to collect our memories and stories about our experiences in India. The site uses a forum format. Once you sign up you can post information, stories, ask questions of other members, etc. The registration form is long but there are only 2-3 questions you are REQUIRED to answer. Once you receive a registration confirmation email you can begin posting memories. If you encounter any problems contact Cindy Ondrak at ondrak@montana.com.

From Cindy Jones Ondrak, Class of '69

(l-r) Maggie King Webb '70, John Donda Henson, '67, Lee Shapiro and Cindy got together in Arizona and had this to say of the meeting:
It always surprises me how the conversation flows when two or more AIS Alums get together. I don't think there was ever pause through our three-hour dinner! It was a great evening, and I think Maggie and I recruited two more attendees for the next reunion.
John brought his yearbooks from his time in Delhi and we enjoyed reminiscing about friends we knew from his time there. John and Lee are active in their business, Alpine Ski Club & Adventure Tours. - Cindy Jones Ondrak, AIS Class of 1969

American Embassy School Campus

Friends and alumni gathered at the American Embassy School New Delhi for the 2nd Annual AES Alumni Reception on December 17th, 2009. Kneeling in front are Maura Moynihan and Siddiq Wahid. Standing behind them, from left are Preeti Garg, Aloka Dalal, Suresh Gupta, Dolly Suneja Narang, Ghafoor Wahid, Sunaina Suneja, Alka Bajaj, Sumathy Unny Sodhi, Leigh Punj (Parent) with grandson, Ryan (son of alumnus), Sharon Lowen, and an AES staff member. Behind them are Indrek Roy, Shrivatsa Somany, Mr. Chandna and V.J. Chandhok. In the last row extreme right is Deepak Sen, the two on his left are unidentified. |
"We revelled in the second alumni reception at AES (AIS forever for some of us!) last evening! Many more alumni students and faculty had registered their acceptance than finally showed up but it mattered little to a group of us from the 70s who were so happy to meet each other again on territory so familiar that each visit is a pilgrimage, truly a Yatra". Read more from Sunaina Suneja, AES class of 1975.
Outstanding Alumni Awards "American Embassy School hosted the 2nd Annual AES Alumni Reception on December 17th, 2009. This year, the school initiated three AES Awards to recognize outstanding Alumni for their dedication and loyalty to the AES community. They are:
KC Gray Siebert, Class of 1970 recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award
Alfie Campbell, parent & friend recipient of the Distinguished Friend Award

Alumni Reception
AES New Delhi, January 16, 2009
The SCHOOL almost unrecognisable and favourite places obscured, still had the open welcomingness that I treasure in my heart.
The guards forced to regulate parking and entry were friendly and more than cooperative even though we reached too too early right in the top traffic challenge time: School closing for the day and weekend! Read more from Kaneez Razavi.

Ashok Nimgade, '76, was the host for the Boston area AIS-AES dinner gathering on 14 April 2008! Guest of Honor was Sunaina Suneja, '75, who was in the United States for two weeks to promote her family business. There were some no-shows so it was a small - but wonderful - group of alumnae (and their spouses) together for dinner. Good Indian food, good music, good company...and lots of fun!! Read more.

Margaret Siebel and her husband Stuart graciously hosted a reunion dinner on April 12 at their home in Washington, D.C. for the AIS/AES class of 1976. Sitting in her backyard, one could almost imagine being in Delhi-outdoors under the trees with Indian food, carpet on the grass underneath our feet and flickering candles casting a warm glow. Some 76-ers traveled great distances to be there: Eryn Creedon came from Oregon, Diane Cowper from Florida and Marshall King from Ohio. More.
